Hello. I’m Charlie Goring, personal assistant. I’m here to help you with:

  • Respite care (temporary as well as regular)

  • Medication assistance

  • Cleaning, tidying, washing and organizing, as well as tackling larger tasks like spring cleaning

  • Cooking

  • Internet shopping, phone calls and other admin

  • Shopping and other errands on your behalf

  • Accompanying you shopping, to appointments, activities, places of interest, family and friends

  • The basic needs of household pets and clearing up after them (I’m used to walking large dogs and washing their muddy feet, or fully bathing them when necessary)

  • General garden maintenance

I have public liability insurance and an Advanced DBS Disclosure

I charge £15.50 per hour Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.

And then:
£18.00 per hour Monday to Friday 5pm-9am
£20.00 per hour at Weekends
£25.00 per hour on Bank Holidays
£8.72 per hour for sleep-ins (ie National Living Wage.)
These rates are for a minimum of two hours. Please ask about rates for less than two hours.

Training

I’m a member (more here) of the East Sussex Support with Confidence scheme (more here), trained with the curriculum of the Care Certificate, when I took courses in Emergency First Aid at Work (L3), Food Safety in Catering (L2), Moving and Handling of People, and Safeguarding Adults. I am also trained in Stop Look Care (NHS primary healthcare intervention). All these training certificates are current.

Computer: Level 2 ECDL Certificate in IT User Skills (QCF)

 

Experience

I’ve enjoyed friendship with older and disabled people since an early age, in both work and spare time:

  • Voluntary work with the homeless and others in all kinds of need at St Patrick’s, Hove, and Matthew 25 Mission, Eastbourne

  • Worked as a cleaner, gardener, kitchen porter, shop assistant (including serving food), driver and archaeology assistant

  • Experience of voluntary care, checking hearing aids, encouraging physiotherapy exercises, errands, phoning medical people, checking heating controls and minor household maintenance

 

Interests

The plants and animals of the countryside, local history (military and industrial, too), chess, many different kinds of music, what’s in the news, poetry, helping victims of crime. I‘m a member of the National Trust, Sussex Wildlife Trust and Eastbourne Natural History & Archaeological Society.

  • State Enrolled Nurse, in hospitals, nursing and private homes

  • School dinner lady, cleaner, admin assistant, retail assistant at Somerfield, Sainsbury’s and Debenhams

  • Home help with older people and supported a learning-disabled person

  • Ran a mother-and-toddler group

  • Pastoral assistant at Eastbourne District General Hospital Chaplaincy, as well as in the community

  • Brought up three children

  • Trained as a doula (birth assistant).

 

Interests

I love watching TV, cooking, gardening, films, wild animals and music – especially singing. I’m a member of the National Trust, Sussex Wildlife Trust, Friends of Seaside Rec and Sussex Healers Association.
